In the beginning was The Narrator, The Narrator was with The Author, and he is The Author's mouth. Through him, The Salvagers' Continuum was spoken; without him, nothing was revealed to The Spectators.
Confused? Think of me, The Narrator, as your guide and companion through this continuum. I was made to lead you, dear Spectators, from the origins of The Quill, through the intertwined journeys of the Jirnodhars, and onward to the formation of Nusantara’s Salvagers.

The Salvagers, or Jirnodhars, are a group of people with extraordinary abilities who believe that in the wreck we call home, there's still hope—and they are here to restore it.

A Brief History

The name "Indonesia" originated from the combination of Greek words Indos (India) and nesos (island), meaning "Indian Archipelago." First proposed by James Richardson Logan in 1850 and later popularized by German ethnologist Adolf Bastian, this name would eventually become the internationally recognized identity of the archipelago.
Long before "Indonesia" gained prominence, the term Nusantara carried centuries of heritage. Derived from the Sanskrit words "nusa" (island) and "antara" (outer or beyond), it first appeared in Middle Javanese literature during the 12th to 16th centuries and was famously invoked by Gajah Mada in his Palapa Oath of 1336 to describe Majapahit's territories beyond Java.
In the early 20th century, Ki Hajar Dewantara attempted to revive the term Nusantara, proposing it as an alternative to "Dutch East Indies." However, when independence arrived in 1945, it was "Indonesia" that prevailed as the official name of the new republic. The term was already widely recognized internationally and had been adopted by nationalist movements, making it the practical choice for a nation seeking global legitimacy.
The Historic Reversal
For over seven decades, Indonesia remained the nation's official name, becoming synonymous with the world's largest archipelagic state. But in 2019, President Pujangga Pujianto made a stunning reversal by officially changing the nation's name from Indonesia to Nusantara. He declared that "Indonesia," despite its widespread acceptance, was fundamentally a colonial construct—a name invented by European scholars to describe a land that wasn't theirs to name. The move sought to reclaim the nation's indigenous identity and reject the last linguistic vestige of colonial rule.
The decision resonated profoundly with citizens, who embraced the return to their ancestral nomenclature. This bold act elevated Pujianto's public standing and created a political legacy that paved the way for his son, Fachry Fujiansyah, to win the presidency in 2025.
The name Nusantara was also chosen for the new national capital in East Kalimantan, symbolizing the nation's maritime identity and its vision of unity across thousands of islands. Today, Nusantara represents more than just a name—it embodies a nation reborn, reclaiming its heritage while charting a course toward a sustainable and culturally vibrant future.

THE QUILL

As a forensic pathologist, I've witnessed the depths of human depravity. This city, Jayamerta, though it means the place "where life thrives", reeks of blood from decayed bodies in its alleyways.
Then he appeared.
Ever since this masked vigilante emerged from the shadows, my nights have grown quieter. I come home at reasonable hours now, sleep soundly, knowing that the bipedal animals will finally face their reckoning. The public fumbled over his name—some called him "The Kill," others "Dekil" (roughly translates to "filthy"). But after a chance encounter with him in the morgue's dim corridors, I can confirm the truth: he is THE QUILL.
Why The Quill, you may ask. Well, he can create these keratinized structures from his skin, called cornudates, similar to nails, horns, and of course animal quills. He uses them as weapons. His abgenes also enable him to heal very quickly.
His mission? When asked, his answer was chillingly simple: "I will bring the judgment of God upon Jayamerta's crime syndicates."
So to my fellow citizens of Jayamerta—rest easy tonight. Someone is watching over us, even if his methods are... unconventional.
